Meats May Contain Additives Harmful to Kidney Patients

Uncooked meat products enhanced with food additives may contain high levels of phosphorous and potassium that food labels don't include, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society Nephrology.

This can make it difficult for people to limit dietary phosphorous and potassium that harm kidney disease patients at high levels.

Kidney disease patients on dialysis must watch their intake of dietary phosphate so their blood phosphate levels do not rise. High phosphate levels, as well as potassium levels, can kill them. MORE>>>>>>

Formula 2 Driver Henry Surtees Killed In Freak Crash At Brands Hatch: Video

Formula 2 Driver Henry Surtees Killed In Freak Crash At Brands Hatch: Video

Formula 2 driver Henry Surtees was killed on Sunday in a crash at Brands Hatch in England. While there have been many incidents where drivers have been killed during a race, this one is particularly shocking.

The car driven by Jack Clarke lost control in a turn and hit a wall. A tire came loose from his car and bounced across the track. In a freak bit of horrific timing, the tire hit Henry Surtees in the head. He was immediately knocked unconscious and drove straight through the next turn with his foot still on the accelerator. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Henry Surtees was the son of 1964 Formula One World Champion John Surtees. Just 18 years old, he was just beginning his move up through the racing ranks, reaching the podium for the first time in Formula 2 on Saturday. Perhaps F1 could have been in his future. Sadly, we will never know.

The video below shows the broadcast footage of the crash. Obviously, since we are dealing with a deadly accident, viewer discretion is advised.

Palin Energizing Women From All Walks of Life

Palin Energizing Women From All Walks of Life

LEBANON, Ohio, Sept. 9 -- Susie Baron is a Republican, a mother of two and a home-schooler. She voted for Mike Huckabee in the Ohio primary, but now -- because of Sarah Palin -- she thinks she is part of something much bigger.

"I wouldn't even call it a Palin movement, I'd call it a sleeping giant that has been awakened," Baron, 56, said at a rally here Tuesday. She described its members as a silent majority of women in Middle America who "are raising our families, who work if we have to, but love our country and our families first."

"And until now, we haven't had anyone to identify with," Baron said, adding that traditional feminist groups such as the National Organization for Women do "not represent me."

David Blevins, Sky News reporter, says evangelical Christianity is often "dismissed out of hand" by journalists.

Widespread anti-Christian bias in the media means that groups like The Christian Institute face an “uphill struggle” for fair coverage, says a Sky News journalist.

Journalists select the information they wish to report based on a largely anti-Christian ideology, says David Blevins, a former Washington correspondent for Sky News.more....

US Is "More Communist than China": Jim Rogers

US Is "More Communist than China": Jim Rogers
The nationalization of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac shows that the U.S. is "more communist than China right now" but its brand of socialism is meant only for the rich, investor Jim Rogers, CEO of Rogers Holdings, told CNBC Europe on Monday.

"America is more communist than China is right now. You can see that this is welfare of the rich, it is socialism for the rich… it's just bailing out financial institutions," Rogers said.

Stock markets jumped after the U.S. government's decision to launch what could be its biggest federal bailout ever, in a bid to support the housing market and ward off more global financial market turbulence.

But Rogers said in the long term the move spelled trouble.

"This is madness, this is insanity, they have more than doubled the American national debt in one weekend for a bunch of crooks and incompetents. I'm not quite sure why I or anybody else should be paying for this," Rogers told "Squawk Box Europe."more....

The Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM – Not one but two terrorist organizations now are broadcasting Islamic prayer services live from the Temple Mount – Judaism's holiest site.

Yesterday, WND broke the story Hamas' official Al Aqsa TV has for the past week broadcast from the Temple Mount's Al Aqsa Mosque the Tarawih prayers, or additional nightly prayers recited during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan started last week. The Tarawih prayers include recitation of parts of the Quran and take about an hour.

Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmulik Ben Ruby told WND yesterday the police took "some measures" to ensure the Hamas transmissions from the Temple Mount were halted. He wouldn't specify which measures were put into action....more....

Despite brutal and horrifying persecution that has left countless dead and an estimated 50,000 homeless, Christians in India's Orissa state are determined that God will have the victory in their violence-torn homeland.

Since the assassination of anti-Christian Hindu leader Swami Laxamanananda Saraswat on Aug. 22, mobs of Hindu fanatics that blame Christians for the leader's death have been roving the Orissa state on the eastern shore of India, torching churches and homes, brutalizing Christians and burning the bodies of those they kill.

Reports from missions organization Gospel for Asia (GFA), however, tell of courage and determination in the face of violence.

One story reported on Christian Newswire told of a missionary beaten multiple times by a Hindu mob demanding he leave a village where he had been working.more....

The Al Alqsa Mosque in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM – For the past week, Hamas' official television network exclusively broadcast Islamic prayer services live from Jerusalem's Temple Mount.

Nightly, Hamas' Al Aqsa TV has broadcast the Tarawih prayers from the Mount's Al Aqsa Mosque or additional nightly prayers recited during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which began last week. Tawawih prayers include recitation of parts of the Quran and takes about an hour.

The Hamas broadcasts serve as somewhat of a coup for the terror group, since it's the only Palestinian television network that is featuring the Tarawih from the Al Aqsa Mosque, giving Hamas the ability to share Temple Mount services with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and West Bank...more...

Slip of the tongue or momentary confusion? In a television interview today discussing his religion, Sen. Barack Obama stated, "My Muslim faith."

Obama, speaking to ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "This Week," was talking about what he described as "smears" that were claiming he was a Muslim when he maintains he is a practicing Christian.

"Let's not play games," Obama stated. "What I was suggesting – you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come."

Stephanopoulos immediately interrupted Obama, stating, "Christian faith."

"My Christian faith," Obama quickly said. "Well, what I'm saying is that he (McCain) hasn't suggested that I'm a Muslim. And I think that his campaign's upper echelons have not, either. What I think is fair to say is that, coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest that perhaps I'm not who I say I am when it comes to my faith – something which I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time."

The statements came amid an exchange in which Obama accused Republicans of spreading "lies" that he is a Muslim. McCain, though, has strongly condemned such accusations. ..more...

JERUSALEM – GOP Sen. John McCain is "absentminded" and "terrible" and his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, doesn't have any appropriate experience.

Sen. Barack Obama, by contrast, is "highly educated" and "eloquent" and would serve the world much better and improve America's overall situation.

And Sen. Joe Biden is a "very respectable" man with a "good reputation."

All this according to an interview broadcast this week on Iranian state-run media.

"[McCain] doesn't know anything, poor thing. He is terrible. Let me tell you, he's awful," stated Mohammad-Ali Fardanesh, a political science professor at Shahid Behshti University, which is an Iranian state-funded school....more...

Sen. Barack Obama

The tax-funded Chicago organization cited as a probable model for programs to integrate youth into the social and political world under an Obama tenure in the White House is the epitome of "Big Brother" that shovels impressionable youth through a course of brainwashing, according to critics.

The organization is called Public Allies and Democratic presidential nomineeSen. Barack Obama was a founding member of the board of directors in 1992. He later resigned and his wife became executive director of the group.

According to an editorial in Investor's Business Daily, Obama plans to use the non-profit, which is funded partly by the federal government and is featured on Obama's campaign website, as the model for a national service corps, called the "Universal Voluntary Public Service."

WND reported earlier when Obama asserted in a Colorado Springs speech...more...

Nervous MSM Suggests McCain Scrap Sarah

Imagine it's a few days before the Dem convention. In a big—BIG—surprise, Barack Obama names Rhode Island congressman Patrick Kennedy his vice-presidential running mate. You're a partisan Republican.  Do you?:

  • a. demand that Obama drop Kennedy from the ticket; or
  • b. sit back and enjoy the, uh, ride.

I'm guessing the great majority of red-blooded Republicans would answer 'b.'  Why wouldn't you want a weak link on the opposing ticket?  So what kind of scare has Sarah Palin has put into the MSM that various of its members, like Jack Cafferty, are floating the notion that McCain should consider dropping Palin?  Do they sense she could be a real game-changer?

View video here.

Mother-of-Three O'Donnell Worried About Palin's Neglected Kids
In today's "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" moment, MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell, currently miles away from her three children that are all under the age of two, questioned whether or not Sarah Palin would be neglecting her four-month-old if she became vice president.

I kid you not.

Experts fear firefly populations are blinking out

Like Bees, Experts fear firefly populations are blinking out
BAN LOMTUAN, Thailand — Preecha Jiabyu used to take tourists on a rowboat to see the banks of the Mae Klong River aglow with thousands of fireflies. These days, all he sees are the fluorescent lights of hotels, restaurants and highway overpasses. He says he'd have to row a good two miles to see trees lit up with the magical creatures of his younger days.

"The firefly populations have dropped 70%, in the past three years," said Preecha, 58, a former teacher who started providing dozens of row boats to compete with polluting motor boats. "It's sad. They were a symbol of our city."..more...

Obama Met With Fox News Executives

Obama Met With Fox News Executives.. Will Be on O'Reilly
Editor's note:This shows how worried Obama is over the Palin pick. "Move-On" has kept the Senator from going on Fox, but like Hillary, when she saw she was losing, Barak now sees the need to gain Fox viewers. This strategy will not work well.....

During the sit-down in a Waldorf-Astoria hotel suite in Manhattan that included Rupert Murdoch, the network's owner, Obama expressed concern about the way Fox was covering him. "I just wanted to know if I'm going to get a fair shake from Fox News Channel," Ailes recalled him saying.

"Senator, you're the one who boycotted us," Ailes says he replied. "We're not the ones who boycotted you. Nor did we retaliate for your boycott."

The meeting appears to have eased tensions between the two camps, which began when all the Democratic candidates, complaining that the network favors Republicans, refused to hold any primary-season debates on Fox. After resisting invitations for months, Obama now plans to appear on Bill O'Reilly's prime-time Fox program on Thursday, the night that John McCain delivers his acceptance speech at the Republican convention here....more...
