As U.S.-led troops pressed toward Baghdad in 2003, Saddam remained defiant in a walkabout among cheering crowds in the capital
A former American overseer of Iraqi prisons says several dozen inmates who were members of Saddam Hussein's military and intelligence forces boasted of helping transport weapons of mass destruction to Syria and Lebanon in the three months prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Don Bordenkircher – who served two years as national director of prison and jail operations in Iraq– told WND that about 40 prisoners he spoke with "boasted of being involved in the transport of WMD warheads to Syria.

A smaller number of prisoners, he said, claimed "they knew the locations of the missile hulls buried in Iraq."

Some of the inmates, Bordenkircher said, "wanted to trade their information for a release from prison and were amenable to showing the locations."

The prisoners were members of the Iraqi military or civilians assigned to the Iraqi military, often stationed at munitions facilities, according to Bordenkircher. He said he was told the WMDs were shipped by truck into Syria, and some ended up in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley....Read More

Olmert: I'll resign after Kadima primary

They spoke soon after the prime minister had made a somber speech at his official residence in Jerusalem in which he announced that he would not seek to retain the leadership.

By law, Olmert will remain prime minister until a new government is formed. If the new Kadima leader forms a government soon after the primary, Olmert will then leave office. But if no new government is established, Olmert, despite having formally tendered his resignation, could remain prime minister until after a general election that would likely be held in spring 2009. Could Afghanistan be the next Vietnam?

commentary:

Could Afghanistan be the next Vietnam?

By Robert R Barney

I find it amusing that Barack Obama was totally against the Iraq war but now wants us to heavily invest in the war in Afghanistan. The question that I have is this, what makes Afghanistan the better war to fight over Iraq? Remember, contrary to what hype you have been fed, there were no Afghans on the airplanes that flew into the World Trade Towers on September 11th, they were mainly from Saudi Arabia, a nation no person has asked us to invade yet. The thing that disturbs me about this "born again" warrior is that Afghanistan is ten times closer to being another Vietnam than Iraq could ever be. Iraq is a flat dry desert that is easily controlled by air power. Why the incompetent Bush administration ever wanted to put in ground troops is beyond me, but the fact is that militarily, the nation can be easily managed by an air war. Afghanistan, on the other hand is a mountainous terrain with plenty of caves to hide in, harsh cold winters and bordered by two nations (Pakistan and Iran) that harbors the terrorist.

Obama’s decision that we need to increase the ground troops in that struggling nation is not unlike the Kennedy-Johnson years concerning Vietnam. Eisenhower, although involved in Vietnam was a shrewd military mind that knew that American troops should never play a combatant role in the infinitesimal Asian jungle. Kennedy on the other hand, and specifically Johnson saw that Vietnam was the key place to stop communism, and they were totally wrong! Like Afghanistan, the people of Vietnam actually wanted the rebels to win. Do you know what the number one business in Afghanistan is? It is the growing of the poppy plant that is turned into illegal drugs for the American market! Now do you think that these poor Muslim farmers want to see their livelihoods taken away by the great Satan?

Increasing our role in this wasteland is ignoring a simple fact that almost nobody in the "PC" media wants to admit: That all Muslim terrorists are UNITED against the west and America and Israel in particular, and although they may hate each other, they will always band together to fight us. When will we ever learn from our past? Tragically, the quagmire that Obama is "saving us from" may be a far worse one. I foresee another Johnson-Carter like time if Obama was ever elected… Taxing the middle class into the grave, spending every dime on inept government programs and getting us involve in armed conflicts that will strap our strength. Johnson had all the "right" motives that the modern day democrats and Obama share. To aid the poor, even out the playing field and to protect America. Ironically, it was this totally naivety that did us in!

I realize that many conservatives will not like what I am going to say, but here goes. Ronald Reagan did not beat the Soviets by invading them, or even talking tough, rather he beat them by building our military and economy into the world’s greatest powerhouse and waiting for the Soviets to defeat themselves by trying to keep up. The terrorist cannot beat us friends, the only ones that can defeat us is ourselves! Stay out of these wars and send a clear message to all nations that may want to do us harm, which is "touch us, or support those who harm us, and we will annihilate you from the face of the earth in 10 minutes." That diplomacy worked against Russia, and it will work everywhere else. We just have to mean it.

Earthquake Hits LA!

Earthquake rattles Los Angeles

A magnitude-5.8 earthquake has struck just east of Los Angeles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake's epicenter was about 2 miles southwest of Chino Hills and about 5 miles southeast of Diamond Bar, the USGS said. The center was about 7.6 miles (12 km) deep. A 5.8 magnitude quake is considered by the USGS to be "moderate," which can cause slight damage to buildings and other structures. full story

WASHINGTON – Are the Democratic leaders in Congress nervous about the growing grass-roots demand for lifting restrictions on domestic oil drilling?

Consider this: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has himself proposed a plan to open new areas for oil exploration – outraging senior members of his own caucus.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, ever aware of the way average Americans are being squeezed at the gas pump and through rising inflation due to higher energy prices, is supporting the plan.

While the proposal is drawing shrieks from those Democrats occupying safe seats in the House and Senate, it shows how vulnerable congressional Democrats might be to an uprising from voters in November.... Read More

Liberals have done a U-turn on conservative billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens.

Formerly reviled for funding the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" campaign against Sen. John Kerry, he's now adored by the Left — unfortunately, for trying to gaslight the rest of us on energy policy.

This column recently spotlighted Pickens' proposed plan to get America off foreign oil by substituting wind-generated electricity for natural gas-generated electricity and then using the natural gas to replace gasoline.

Already having addressed the proposal's flaws — and Pickens' plan to profit at taxpayer expense from it — let's consider how Pickens' marketing shades the truth.Aside from the fact that the Department of Energy (DOE) puts the import figure at a more moderate 58 percent, Pickens gives the impression that imported oil is scary because it all comes from the unstable Mideast. But hold the phone. Only 16 percent of our imported oil comes from the Persian Gulf — barely up from 13.6 percent in 1973, according to the DOE. Imports from OPEC countries are actually down — from 47.8 percent in 1973 to 44.5 percent in 2007. Read More

The Middle East in Prophecy

The Middle East in Prophecy

By Richard F. Ames

Forward By Robert R. Barney: Richard Ames gives probably the best view I have seen so far concerning end time prophecy and the identity of who everyone is just before Christ returns. I hope you take the time to study this article very well. You will learn much!

Jerusalem is the most important city in the world. Scripture shows that the region surrounding it—the Middle East—will eventually explode into world war. Do you know what the Bible teaches about the end-time climax of world events in that region? You may be surprised!

The Middle East has been in constant turmoil for decades. Many who are following world news wonder what will happen next, and what the final outcome will be. Yet very few realize that Bible prophecy explains in advance the earthshaking events that will lead to greater disasters in the region—and ultimately to World War III!Read More.....

No Drill Democrats Try to Open Strategic Reserve

No Drill Democrats Try to Open Strategic Reserve

By Robert R. Barney

In a shameful move to appear to act as if they care about you or me, the democrat led congress tried to get a bill passed that would open up the national oil stockpile that by mandate can only be used if there is a disruption of oil. The move would have given the US only a three day supply of oil and would have actually caused the price of crude to go up! At the same time, this would have sent a message to our enemies to disrupt the oil supply and catch America with our proverbial pants down! This election year "stunt" could be labeled as treason!

The idea that a three day supply of oil would serve anyone but our enemies, while standing against all new drilling in the US makes one wonder just what is going on in Washington. From inept and corrupt Republicans to the down right treasonous Democrats, we in America have a tough road ahead in the coming years until we get serious and fire everyone that has taken this country down this road to ruin and our anti-American media is helping the decline as much as possible. CBS News titles this story "Republicans Defeat Gas Price Relief" Bill (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/07/24/national/main4291311.shtml?source=RSSattr=U.S._4291311). What gas relief? THREE DAYS worth of oil that is to be replaced in 6 months by law? No, the headline from CBS should have read just like the one I used. This shows the absolute bias of the media. Gas prices have fallen 17 cents per gallon in one week due to the fear that President Bush would allow oil drilling off shore without a drop of oil being produced. Even the democrats admit that their stunt would lower the price of gas 1 penny for about a week! If the democrats really cared, then they could suspend their outrageous gas tax for a week. That move would have saved Americans millions of dollars! Both Hillary Clinton and John McCain promoted the idea, but the messiah in waiting and his disciples in the media said that the plan was not sound, yet they have no problem opening up our security oil reserve for a three day ploy to con the consumer into voting for them in the fall. 75 of American favor offshore oil drilling and yet our representatives want to continue their assault on America. The other day, we posted a story where a democrat actually admitted that they assume high oil prices are good for us, to make us switch off oil. These are the same idiots that mandated corn into gasoline, murdering thousands of people around the world by starvation.

He ventured forth to bring light to the world

The anointed one's pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a miracle in action - and a blessing to all his faithful followers

And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.

When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organisation with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?” Read More

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, a long-time supporter of McCain's is my bet to be the Veep choice for John McCain. The relative unknown governor is from a swing state with considerable support across the Republican Party, including evangelicals, and has always been thought by Republican strategists to be on McCain's short list.

The Minnesota governor is visiting Washington and was spotted at McCain headquarters in Virginia today for meetings. Everyone is thinking Mitt Romney, who probably would be the best choice, but John McCain is someone who holds grudges and I think their chemistry will never develop. My bet, and time will tell is the VEEP choice for McCain is going to be Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.

Who does Bush really want to be president?

My View

Who does Bush really want to be president?

By Robert R Barney

Laugh as you may, but those who have read my commentaries before know that I have never considered George Bush a “Reagan” Republican. In the past, I have even made the claim that nobody has done more for the democrats than George Bush, and maybe he was truly a democrat covert agent! Reagan speech writer, Peggy Noonan wrote several months ago that President Bush has harmed the party more than Richard Nixon. She wrote several months ago that Bush single-handily destroyed the Republican Party. Richard Nixon never did that!

Let's examine many Bush supporters and how they have fled from McCain to support Obama. Yes, you read that correctly. Are you aware that T. Boone Pickens, the oil guy telling us to get off oil for wind power was the guy who paid for the swift boat ads for Bush? Now, he is sounding like Al Gore! His TV ads fail to mention that he has a personal stake in his altruism, he is building the largest windmill operation in the world in Texas. The ad also doesn't state real facts about the “oilman”. Pickens made the majority of his wealth in a scheme called “greenmailing”. The term depicts a type of corporate blackmail in which a substantial investor purchases stock and intimidates to take over a company. His real intention, though, is solely to scare management so that it will buy back his shares at a price that is higher than the market value of the stock. In short, one buys into a company with enough stock to cause trouble so that they get “bought off” by the board.

Another recent Obama supporter is Tom Bernstein, who went to Yale University with Bush and co-owned the Texas Rangers baseball team with him. In 2004 he gave the maximum 2,000 to the president's reelection campaign and gave 50,000 to the RNC. This year he is changing his support to Obama. He is one of numerous former Bush disciples who find the democrat newcomer appealing.

Matthew Dowd, Bush's chief campaign strategist in 2004, declared recently that he was disenchanted with the war in Iraq and the president's “my way or the highway” way of leadership. He is the first member of Bush's inner circle to condemn the leader's performance in office. Is this truly a new found view, or one that must be looked at through skeptical eyes? For instance, Robert Kagan, a leading neoconservative and co-founder of the Project for the New American Century in the late 1990s, that called for the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. Disagreements on the war have not stopped John Martin, a Navy reservist and founder of the website Republicans for Obama, from supporting the antiwar senator. He joined the military after the Iraq war and is about to be deployed to Afghanistan. “I disagree with Obama on the war, but I don't genuinely think it is a test of his patriotism,” Martin says. “Obama has a message of hope for the country.” Yeah, right!

Bankers have also been oiling Obama's campaign. John Canning, a “Bush pioneer” and investment banker that raised $100,000 Bush in 2004, has given up on the Republicans. “I know lots of my friends in this business are disenchanted and are definitely looking for something different,” he said.

Maybe this explains the sudden switch by Obama to Bush policies which are making the liberal left mad. He is reaching out to evangelical voters by now supporting Bush plans that expand programs steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and in a move sure to cause controversy, support some ability to hire and fire based on faith. This flip flop on Obama's part has also been compared to the Bush ways of governing. “To some extent I will agree with you. Obama supporters do seem to blindly believe everything he says, just like Bush supporters,” says a democratic pundit who admitted that Obama and not McCain may represent four more years of Bush! Maybe Bush really meant all those nasty things he said about John McCain in 2000! What's your take?

Lord Monckton (DailyTech.com)
In another strike against the conventional assertion of a consensus on global warming, a publication of an organization representing more than 50,000 physicists acknowledges many members of the scientific community don't believe humans are the primary cause of climate change.

The editor of Physics & Society, a newsletter of the American Physical Society, says that with his July issue he wants to kick off a debate concerning one of the main conclusions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the IPCC.

The IPCC was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last year along with former Vice President Al Gore for sounding the alarm about alleged man-made global warming. Yesterday, in a speech at Constitution Hall in Washington, Gore challenged the U.S. to make a "man on the moon" effort to produce all of the country's electricity from renewable resources within 10 years.

You cringe over the price of a gallon of gas, but what about a gallon of Visine? An article in the September issue of ShopSmart shows that if you bought the eye drops by the gallon, the price would be $1,021. Steak sauce? $48. Secret Platinum, $189. Obviously, no one buys Visine by the gallon, except for maybe Cyclops (hey, that stick still burns). Similiarly, except for hobbyists, no one buys a dropper of gasoline. And there are cost-savings by selling and buying items in bulk. Still, makes you think...

Oil prices tumble in biggest weekly drop ever

NEW YORK (AP) - A stunning sell-off dragged oil prices to their biggest weekly drop ever and gas prices at the pump slipped by the more than they have at any point since February, giving consumers a rare breather in a year of record fuel prices.

The national average for a gallon of regular fell by the most since February, AAA data show, and could ease further in the days to come.

So is it time to declare the energy bubble popped?

IT WAS the sparkling Sydney day that won over the heart of Pope Benedict, the so-called Super Thursday when the pontiff crisscrossed the city by limousine, motor launch and popemobile.

His red "mozzetta" cape billowing like a sail in the wind, he shooed away his cardinals and bishops and, flanked by a United Nations of young people, he made his glorious maritime arrival at East Darling Harbour in the afternoon. read more

Israel makes arrests in alleged plot against Bush

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel accused six Arabs on Friday of trying to set up an al Qaeda cell in Israel and said one of them had proposed attacking helicopters used during a visit by President George W. Bush.

Israel's Shin Bet counter-intelligence agency said one of the suspects had used his mobile phone to film helicopters at a sports stadium in Jerusalem that was used as a landing site for Bush's delegation.

The suspect then posted queries on Web sites frequented by al Qaeda operatives, asking for guidance on how to shoot down the helicopters, the agency said in a statement.

Bush visited Israel in January and again in May.

Chertoff: European terrorists trying to enter US

WASHINGTON (AP) - European terrorists are trying to enter the United States with European Union passports, and there is no guarantee officials will catch them every time, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said Thursday.

Chertoff's comments on Capitol Hill comes as the country is entering a potentially vulnerable period with the presidential nominating conventions coming up next month; the presidential election in November; and the transition to a new administration in January - all of which may be attractive targets for terrorists.

Satellite radio saga takes unexpected turn

Satellite radio saga takes unexpected turn

WASHINGTON (AP) - During his tenure at the Federal Communications Commission, Jonathan Adelstein has been a fierce critic of government policies that allow big media companies to get bigger. So it came as a surprise when the Democratic commissioner put forth a proposal that would allow the nation's only two satellite radio companies to merge.

Adelstein, the potential deciding vote, told The Associated Press on Thursday that he would support Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.'s $3.1 billion buyout of XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. if the companies agree to a six-year price cap and make one-quarter of their satellite capacity available for public interest and minority programming, plus other conditions.

Making Synthetic Gas

The Process to make Synthetic Gas

The technology for transforming natural gas or coal into synthetic fuel was invented by Franz Fischer and Hans Trophsch in the 1920s. The Fischer-Tropsch process transforms gas derived from coal (or other substances) into liquid gas. The Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process is the best-known synthesis process and was used on a large scale in Germany during World War II. Other processes include the Bergius process, the Mobil process and the Karrick process. An intermediate step in the production of synthetic fuel is often syngas, a stoichiometric mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, which is sometimes directly used as an industrial fuel.

The process of producing synfuels is often referred to as Coal-To-Liquids (CTL), Gas-To-Liquids (GTL) or Biomass-To-Liquids (BTL), depending on the initial feedstock. Synthetic crude may also be created by upgrading bitumen (a tar like substance found in tar sands), or synthesizing liquid hydrocarbons from oil shale and synthesis gas: a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen.

Swift Renewable Fuels

Welcome to the next generation of aviation fuels.

In fact, this is the introduction of the first and only completely renewable fuel. The current fuel used in piston fired aircraft is 100 Low Lead (100LL). The United States and Europe have banned the use of tetraethyl lead (TEL) in motor fuels. TEL is needed to bring the octane number to 100 in aviation gasoline. There currently is a moratorium on this ban until 2010. Swift has this solution.

Unlike the current process of refining crude oil to arrive at a final fuel, we synthetically create hydrocarbons from bio-mass. This creation method is superior to the existing refining method because we maintain control over the entire process giving us the flexibility to meet or exceed current ASTM specifications.

The advantages of Swift Bio-Synthetic Fuel are:

  • Seamless replacement of 100LL (no engine modifications)
  • 15-25% increase in range over 100LL (no oxygenates)
  • 20% drop in pollutants over the current 100LL fuel
  • 15% more volumetric energy than 100LL
  • No need for stabilizers or additives

Archbishop of Canterbury: 'Christian doctrine is offensive to Muslims'

Now this is Funny-Like Beheadings isn't offensive to Christians!

Archbishop of Canterbury: 'Christian doctrine is offensive to Muslims' Christian doctrine is offensive to Muslims, the Archbishop of Canterbury said yesterday. Dr Rowan Williams also criticised Christianity's history for its violence, its use of harsh punishments and its betrayal of its peaceful principles.

His comments came in a highly conciliatory letter to Islamic leaders calling for an alliance between the two faiths for 'the common good'.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams has admitted that Christian doctrine is offensive to muslims

But it risked fresh controversy for the Archbishop in the wake of his pronouncement earlier this year that a place should be found for Islamic sharia law in the British legal system. Read More

It turns out that GOD is largest oil polluter!

It turns out that GOD is largest oil polluter!

By Robert R Barney

Are you ready for this one? Guess who is responsible for the most oil spillage into the sea? Exxon, Chevron, or Citgo? All three? Nope, it's God. Turns out that 65% of all oil spills are natural and not man made! Actually, only 1% of all oil spillage into the sea comes from off shore oil rigs! Ironically, 4% comes from ships coming to America laden with Mid East oil! So it is four times worse for the environment to import oil rather than drill off our coast lands! Go Figure.

Why does the liberal environmentalist not know this? The answer is simple, they do know it and lie about it in their plans to sell America to our enemies, mainly today being the Arab nations!

Don't believe me, well here are the facts...........Read On for the proof!!!
